The Wisdom Knot: A Foundation for Sajès Ed

When I decided to name my work here at Sajès Ed Consulting, I reflected deeply on the sources of wisdom that have shaped my life. At the center of it all is my Haitian heritage, where the word “Sajès” means wisdom in Haitian Kreyòl (pronounced 'Sah-jes Ed'). Here, wisdom is more than just a name—it is the foundation of everything we do.

Our logo features the Adinkra symbol Nyansapo, the Wisdom Knot, which symbolizes intelligence, patience, and the ability to apply knowledge effectively in diverse situations. Inspired by the teachings of one of my brilliant wisdom guides, the late S. Khalilah Brann, I chose this symbol to honor the truth that wisdom, creativity, and resilience are always interconnected. Just as the knot intertwines, we aim to weave together education, equity, and community to create lasting and transformative change.

Guided by authenticity, wisdom, joy, creativity, and community, Sajes Ed partners with educators, leaders, and organizations to foster inclusive, liberatory learning environments. Our mission is to empower individuals and communities—especially those rooted in Black and Brown spaces—to thrive by drawing on their unique strengths, histories, and voices.

As we navigate profoundly challenging times, I believe it is more critical than ever to lean into our inner knowing and our collective wisdom. The headlines may leave us feeling overwhelmed, fearful, and uncertain. But we are the descendants of legacies of resistance, survival, and joy amid harsh realities. We carry memory, imagination, and a deep, undefeated hope.

As an educator, a creator, and a daughter of Haiti, I want to be in loving community with all those who believe in building a more just, equitable future—together.

Join us on this journey toward transformative education and leadership, where wisdom is both the means and the outcome of our shared work.
