African Odyssey: Ancestral Memory
A short film exploring remembrance, identity, and ancestral connection
Written and Executive Produced by Cathleen Antoine-Abiala
Directed by Emeka Anozie (Aborijin Media) and Regine Romain (WaWaWa Diaspora Centre)
A Haitian-American woman journeys to Bénin, West Africa, for the first time. Moving through historic sites linked to the trans-Atlantic slave trade, she enters a layered space of reflection, remembrance, and reconnection. What unfolds is a quiet yet powerful transformation; an emergence into reclaimed identity, guided by ancestral memory and spiritual clarity.
